In February 2022 Tom Hinton will be leaving WE Soda and will be replaced as the Group CFO of WE Soda by Ahmet Tohma, who will be joining from Ciner Resources Corporation, part of our North American soda ash business.
Tom joined WE Soda as Group CFO in June 2020. Since this time, WE Soda announced the sale of a 60% interest in Ciner Resources Corporation to Şişecam and is well advanced in its preparations to execute a comprehensive refinancing of its non-U.S. business.
Commenting on Tom’s departure, Alasdair Warren, CEO of WE Soda said, “We are very grateful for everything that Tom has contributed to WE Soda over the last two years. It has been a challenging time for our industry, particularly during the COVID period of 2020, which Tom helped us to successfully navigate. Tom leaves the business in great shape, having successfully recruited and established our UK finance team and helped us make great progress towards achieving our dual strategic objectives of the stake sale and a holistic refinancing of our business. We wish him well in his future endeavours.”
Ahmet Tohma has been the CFO of our U.S. soda ash business through the NYSE-listed company Ciner Resources LP and its U.S. affiliates since March 2020, having previously held various management roles at Garanti Bank in Turkey. He will be assuming the role of Group CFO of WE Soda starting in 2022.
Alasdair Warren added, “We welcome Ahmet as our new Group CFO. Ahmet has been part of our senior finance team and the CFO of our U.S. business for the last two years. He knows and understands our business very well and brings with him U.S. public company experience and a broad range of finance experience. We look forward to his arrival.”
